So as they year rapidly draws to a close, we tend to reflect back on what we have achieved over the past eleven and a half months and start to think about what we are going to do differently next year.

With new lessons learnt, we all tend to set new goals – raise the bar and head into the New Year a head full of good intentions and committed actions.

Or do we?

Today, I am rolling out my end-of-year competition with the primary focus of getting you thinking about WHY next year is going to be bigger than 2010. Because even though you may be on the brink of burn-out and really looking forward to your break, it is essential that you start January with a little bit serious idea of where you are going.

So I decided to run a competition to get you thinking about this and to publicly state why you are going to GO BIG in 2011, allowing you to commit to the process before the end of the year wraps up and you drop back into 2nd gear.

BUT

For one outstanding response (and when I say outstanding I don’t necessarily mean the most comprehensive game plan, it could be the most passionate or someone who has clearly established their purpose), they will win the competition and be the first official person to have access to my new program How To Rock Your PT Business which will be available in January.

Without going into too much detail here, How To Rock Your PT Business is a step by step, action-based program that educates you on building a rocking business around YOU and your strengths; no cookie-cutter one-size-fits-all bullshit here. Just rock-solid information that works, with an understanding that we are all different.

The program also includes an interview series with 6 of Australia’s most kick-arse fitness entrepreneurs (Richard Marc, Trav Bell, Kellie Sanders, Pete Tansley, Ben London and Matt Collins) and the result is over 5 hours of down-loadable gold.

So while I am not going to rabbit on about the prize too much, just let me say that the 85 collective years of personal training experience that you get your hands on in this program WILL change your business in 2011.  Period.

What You Need To Do To Win…

Alright… to get your hands on the prize all you have to do is answer these two simple questions in the comments section of this post (and don’t forget add your name and email to the comment so I can contact you if you win):

  1. What was your biggest win for 2010 and why was it so important to you?
  2. Why is your business going to ROCK in 2011?

So hit up the comments section with your answers and as I said before, it may not the most strategic or highest achieving answers that win so just tell me your story and your plans for next year and lets get this ball in motion.

Keep an eye out for my entry, it will definitely surprise you ;-)

Good luck…

Rick

P.S: I will announce the prize in next Thursdays post (the 23rd), so get your answers in and feel free to share this with any other trainers using the buttons below.

Hey Rick,

I dont actually have a PT business yet but i am working on starting one up in the new year. I currently work for a large organisation in a country town and i would have to say that my greatest achievement this year would be helping one of my clients lose 15kg in 11 months. The changes that i saw in him mentally and physically were outstanding, and was the reason i got into this industry. For him to go from being so scared about coming into the gym for a session, to be one of the first people to come in as soon as we open was an amazing transformation to see. He is now my second strongest client and continues to surprise me and himself. i cant wait to see what the 2011 will bring for him.

Next year my business is going to rock because i want to become the leading fitness business in my town and surrounding communities. I have a strong belief that fitness starts with education. Our business to hold regular seminars covering different topics for recovery strategies, exercise technique, nutrition etc.

As no other company does so in my area i think that this is really needed. We will also provide mobile training to the wider communities to help get fitness and education out to the towns so everyone can benefit from our knowledge. I’m really PUMPED about our business and cant wait to have it up and running and be able to hit a large audience and start changing singles, couples, families, the young and old, the injured, everyones lives for a better future!

1.What was your biggest win for 2010 and why was it so important to you?

Biggest win for me this year was leaving my PT job in a large corperate gym and starting my own outdoor bootcamp training business. This year I have smashed all my expectations and have built an army of loyal clients and am pumped everyday to train them and watch them change into confident, fit and healthy people!

2.Why is your business going to ROCK in 2011?

In 2011 I plan on expanding my services and the reason my business will ROCK is simple. NOTHING will stop me from achieving my goals and helping many others achieve theirs!!!

P.S Thats for all your help this year Rick, you are the MAN!!!!!!!

Alright – I am going to get in early…

My biggest win for 2010 is without a doubt getting emails from trainers all around the country saying thanks for putting out info that they understand and can use in their business. Makes it all worth it when that happens. Oh… and building my own deck cos I suck at building so that was a huge win.

My business is going to rock in 2011 because I have a fire under me to help the trainers who want to help themselves. So far this year, that has been one of most enjoying aspects of my job but we are going to turn up the volume next year giving those trainers who really want it, everything they need to get it. All excuses will be left at the door. Can’t friggin’ wait…

When people ask me about 2010 they automatically think that my biggest win/highlight would have to be joining the Broncos training staff…funnily enough it was not!!

For me by far my biggest win was completing the New York Marathon, something that instilled the fire in me and had me looking at PT in a whole new direction. It takes an adventure in which there are many doubters in your ability to succeed that drives you on and makes you fight even harder to reach your goal.

This experience has opened my eyes to other avenues within the PT industry in which i can share in the adventure with many of my clients. Lets face it after the completion of one adventure we then aspire to take on something bigger and better

2011 my plan is to take my business and make it bigger and better!! Directly targeting a market in which i would love to work with and continuing to be a part of each of the adventures. Lets face it if you cant enjoy what you are doing…then why dont you find something that you can enjoy!!

1. What was your biggest win for 2010 and why was it so important to you?

The Biggest win for me in 2010 was one of my clients losing 7kg in 5 Weeks and changing his life for the better through My Bootcamp Programs, The Bootcamps i Provide use real military equipment, techniques and training programs, As a serving member it ammuses me how many Companies, both the big commercial gyms and smaller owner operated trainers try and disguise their group fitness sessions under the name of “Bootcamp” with no equipment nor military knowledge, so i guess thats another win of 2010 for me, knowing that i offer a service that actually incorporates what the name intends.

2. Why is your business going to ROCK in 2011?

My Business is going to rock in 2011 because my dedication, commitment and determination to succeed and be the best in my area then state then country is far greater than any trainer i know or see around town. My clients both Bootcamp/Corporate rave about our service and i am continually studying to make myself and my company the best that we can possibly be whilst being competitive at the same time.

Okey doke, let me just clarify my earlier post a bit, too. My responses actually do sum up my thoughts on the questions. But I should give some indication of the ‘why’.

The project we’re working on (the main one you know about) is something I’ve had ‘in concept’ for a long time. I put it out there to a couple of other trainers when I first had the idea and nobody had the enthusiasm I was looking for. For that reason, I held off, because I needed someone to come on board who was just as excited about it as I have been from the start. I mentioned it to Andy and the rest is history, as they say. So, yeah, this changes and has changed everything in a massive way with regard to me and my business, what I want and where I want to be next year. Couldn’t ask for a better person to be working with.

I’ve been pondering this for a few days now and you know what, I’ve had a few wins this year, personally and professionally.
The thing that stands out most for me, is that in the past 12 months I have FINALLY, finally learned to back myself and my abilities. It’s taken a while but now I realise more than ever that I am capable of HUGE things and I will be using every part of that capability in the next 12 months and beyond. That means is that all these loyal, amazing people Im fortunate to work with every day will get even more from me and from the business to make it an experience and community we all never imagined possible. So for the next year, I know now, the only thing that had a chance to hold me back, is me.
That nagging “hold back” won’t have a chance of rearing her head (I’ll be way too busy for her) and my once upon a “part time” baby will be doing things I never imagined (it’s already on it’s way now!).
To say that it’s going to rock is a little off base, probably more appropriately, strap yourselves in coz this rides taking off!

My biggest win for 2010

If I think back over 2010 there were so many cool things that happened. Clients achieved great stuff but that happened in the previous three years too. We ran an awesome City 2 Surf program (with 40 people running) and that was incredible. However I think the one key activity that stands out as a biggest win was finding and hiring the right team to work with me. I found three girls and one guy who are all fantastic. Each has their own skills and they are very different skills, and each has their own unique personality. The one thing they have in common is that they care about my clients and my clients love them! That is the most important thing for me. We are not the biggest business but I believe that we have the biggest heart. We are united as a team – we work well together, we support each other, and and our clients see us as one team. That has grown my business this year and will allow possiblities for the future that did not exist previously. It has also given me back my life! I have made changes that allow me to have time to myself, and I can run the business instead of just working in it. This is critical to our success.

Why my business will rock in 2011

I asked for help. I worked with a marketing consultant, and I networked and learnt from others. We have objectives for 2011, a business plan and a complete marketing plan for the whole year. I’ve culled parts of the business that weren’t working, decided on four key pillars of operation and changed my business to work around those areas. It’s enabled a focus and direction that I didn’t have before and therefore 2011 is going to rock!

10 Ellie- Power Mums December 20, 2010 at 9:22 am

My biggest accomplishment in 2010 was giving birth to my beautiful daughter in April. I then went on to lose the 20kg’s I put on in pregnancy in 5 months and have now lost another 4.5kg (that I put on overseas last year! Only 0.5kg to go!). I re-started my studies in July and now have my Cert 3 and almost have my Cert 4. After trying to get my sister to exercise for 3 years she has finally started training with me and so far has lost 9kg. She still has a long way to go but I’m so happy that I can help her become a happier, healthier person. She will definitely be my hardest client! I will be starting my business in the new year (Power Mum’s), a Mum’s and bubs group outdoor class. To help Mum’s lose their baby weight, increase their fitness and energy in a supportive fun environment with other Mum’s going through the same thing. I can’t wait to get started and the business is all I think about (even in the middle of the night!). I’ve always loved health and fitness and helping people and feel this has brought everything I’ve done before in my life together.

My business is going to rock in 2011 because I am passionate about what I do. I’m going to step outside the box, take risks and push myself to never give up. I’m going to help Mum’s regain their bodies and self esteem so that they can live happier, healthier lives. I can’t wait :)

Biggest Win for 2010 = getting 50% access to my two beautiful daughter (6 and 4) so I now have them living with me every second week. My time with them is quality time, much more so then before I separated with my ex wife, so there’s proof that good things do come out of those things that you think are devastating!

In 2011 – I will rock because …. I have to! My girls depend on me to make my gym a success and to get my product out there and rocking it. If I don’t do it. no-one else will… and I won’t be letting my girls down!

1.What was your biggest win for 2010 and why was it so important to you? That Krunchies health & Fitness continued to be a stand alone business that continues to go from strength to strength – but all this is a bit wanky…so my biggest win was receiving a txt message at 3am on a sunday morning from a client (lazing by the pool in bali) that said thank-you so much, for the first time in my life i feel comfortable in bathers. words along cannot thank-you enough” (this is why i love getting out of bed at 430 am 6 days a week!)
2.Why is your business going to ROCK in 2011? Krunchies Health & Fitness is going to skyrocket in 2011 because there is no back-up plan, no fallback and no excuses…just like in training you can have excuses or results – and i have chosen results for Krunchies… Let the fun and games of 2011 begin….im excited!

1) What was your biggest win for 2010 and why was it so important to you?
Well, after nearly 16 years of being a stay at home mom with my two girls I decided to go back to school. I had worked in social work with battered women and children and wanted to do something helping people but in a more positive environment. So I decided to get my certification and start my own personal training business. I’ve spent the last year learning about all things business and getting my first two clients, yay! Although I feel I still have so much to learn I’ve done more then I thought I was capable of and couldn’t be happier with my decision to become a personal trainer and go out on my own.

2) Why is your business going to ROCK in 2011?
I’m ready put perfectionism (aka procrastination) aside and dive head first into starting my small groups and really having a business and not just a plan for a business. It may be a big learning curve but I’m ready (I hope). Well I keep telling myself I’ll never know til I jump.

Thanks Rick for all the great tid bits and telling it like it is.
